Dorothy Lorraine Harper, “Dot”, 76 of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 16, 2017.
She was born in Notasulga, Alabama to the late Augusta “Hundo” and Jessie Harper. Dorothy was the 2nd oldest of nine children. Predeceased by both parents, siblings; Faye, Willie, Sarah, Sylvester, Irene and Para. She is survived by her older sister Gloria Harper Lee of Bridgeport; niece Nakia Harper whom she raised from 2 months old; her favorite niece, Jennifer Frazier and favorite nephew A. Jaime Rosario, II as well as a host of nieces, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and extended family. Also, behind to cherish her memory were 2 good friends; Bonnie Custis and Glenda Noblin.
Dot attended the University of Bridgeport; after which she went on to work for the State of Connecticut as a substance abuse counselor and retired with 34 years of dedicated service. Dot has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Stratford where she served on the Sympathy Club and Hospitality. If you asked her to describe herself, she would say, “On this journey of my life I strive to be humble, to be kind, and to be someone who helps others; most importantly to love God.”
