Obituary for
George Russell Quarles
George Quarles passed away on June 30, 2017 at Bridgeport hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on January 26, 1952 in Bay Minette, Alabama to parents John and Georgia Quarles. He lived in Alabama for many years before settling in Bridgeport Connecticut. A master mechanic, his love of cars and fixing them kept him busy both professionally and in his community.
George was preceded in death by his father, John Quarles, his mother, Georgia Quarles, and his three brothers, Julius Quarles, Paul Quarles and Larry Quarles.
He also leaves to cherish his memory: his longtime companion Marie Johnson, his two sons Damon R. Matthews of Bronx, NY, Joshua Monte Crook of Mobile, AL, a daughter, Deborah Beckett of Conyers, GA, Joshua’s wife Timberly Crook and Deborah’s husband Arthur Beckett. He also leaves behind two grandsons and three granddaughters, Jaylen Crook, Kennedy Crowell, Conner Beckett, Kerrington Beckett and Caden Watson. He also leaves his five sisters, Verlene Durant, Helen Mims, Betty Adams, Ula Bentley, and Mary Likely, two brothers, Willie Quarles, and John Quarles, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends may greet the family, Friday, July 7, 2017 from 10am-11am. A Going Home Service will proceed at 11am-12pm, at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT.
